Something to seek, something to strive for, something that sometimes found you, whether you were seeking it or not.
The grounds were peaceful and calm. A large lake to the east, lush forests surrounding well-maintained gardens and paths. A green house stood along the edge of the forest, clean glass panes shining in the light, reflecting a blue sky and the occasional white cloud overhead. Central to it all was the House.
No gates to bar entry, no signs to warn of trespassing, only tidy paths of stone and brick leading to the front of what might be described by some as a manor. Four clear levels, if one counted by the windows, with strong, elegant construction, and clean, sturdy lines.
Welcoming. Inviting.
And completely silent. No figures moved behind curtains. The water in the fountains before the veranda were clean and flowing, the paths around it wide enough for even the most elegant of transportation, but no footprints, no wheel paths could be seen.
The sky overhead held life, bird song clear and melodic, as various creatures flit or soared across the blue expanse.
The light was warm, but not too hot.
The light cast the expected shadows.
The light had no clear source.
